Downtown Duluth Golf Event Proceeds Go Towards Outreach Position
DULUTH, Minn. — The sun was shining, and the clubs were swinging at Downtown Duluth’s 5th Annual September Slam Golf Event.
The event happening at Ridgeview Country Club in Duluth is all about having fun while raising money. Proceeds go towards the Outreach position with their Clean and Safe Team. It is a grant funded position that is expiring. Nathan Kesti who is in the role now has helped get more than 40 people into housing and 47 people into treatment.
“He works not only with people who are unsheltered in our community and suffering from mental illness, but he also works with our businesses. So, it’s a big balance there. To be able to help businesses if perhaps someone is in their doorway and is suffering from some mental health issue. And then also if someone just needs a little assistance on how to deescalate a situation. He’s been very beneficial to our businesses that way,” said Kristi Stokes, Downtown Duluth President.
Community members are encouraged to donate for this position through Downtown Duluth’s website.
