Community Members Celebrate Find the Good Day
DULUTH, Minn. — The Junior League of Duluth got together to celebrate Find the Good Day.
This day was started by the Association of Junior Leagues International. It’s about finding the good in yourself, your community, and the world around you. But they emphasize it’s not just a day on a calendar, it’s a movement to help knit the community together. It can also be about going out and doing good – helping a neighbor, volunteering, or just offering a kind word.
“Find the good day is for everybody. It’s not just about the Junior Leagues, organizations. It’s about you and I – hey, ah, a kind word. It might be helping a charity helping a neighbor, all those things add up and it creates a stronger community, a sense of wellbeing for the community. And so, people can take their own individual action. If they want to be part of a group that helps others there are plenty of philanthropic associations in our group, in our city. The Junior League is one of them, there’s the Rotary’s, there’s the Lions, there’s so on and so forth. There’s a lot of doing good organizations,” said Patty Salo Downs, Community Council Director at Junior League of Duluth.
The Junior League also took time this day to celebrate local organizations that make a difference in the community. Over $30,000 in grants were distributed to aid them in their ‘Do Good’ initiatives. Some of those initiatives include purchases for children’s programs, emergency food and supplies, and other resources.
