Monday Morning Northland Forecast: 9/23/2024

Sunny Monday Forecast

The autumnal equinox arrived at 7:43am on Sunday. And amazingly, it feels like fall today! Last week, we had very warm high temps in the 80s, some 20 degrees above average. This week, now that it’s fall, we will instead have high temps right where they belong, in the mid 60s. They will warm up a little bit by midweek, into the mid 70s, helped by southerly winds. But for the most part, we will be right where we are supposed to be.

The one area I’d like to see change is in our precipitation levels. We are now approaching a deficit of almost 3″ of rain for the month. And, with high pressure being dominant in this part of the country for the next week, I don’t see us taking a bite out of that lack of moisture before we run out of days in September. Things often have a way of evening themselves out in weather, so maybe we will have a wetter than normal October. I’ll be watching for some moisture to head our way from the Gulf of Mexico in the next few weeks. But, with the jet stream heading back south for winter, that may not be too likely. I’ll keep my eyes open, and my fingers crossed!

Otherwise, we have a great week ahead of us. Sunny with mild temps. Enjoy the first week of autumn!
