UMD Women’s Hockey to Play in Belfast Friendship Series in January of 2026

The Belfast Friendship Series is the first and only NCAA division one women's hockey tournament to take place outside of North America.

DULUTH, Minn.- An opportunity of a lifetime awaits the UMD women’s hockey team next season.

The Bulldogs will travel to Belfast, Ireland in January of 2026 to play in the Belfast Friendship Series.

They’ll be joined by Boston University, Quinnipiac, and Laura Bellamy and Harvard.

The Belfast Friendship Series is the first and only NCAA division one women’s hockey tournament to take place outside of North America.

UMD is also the first WCHA team to skate in the tournament.

In other Bulldog news, the team moved up to #4 in the country after swepping previously top ranked Ohio State over the weekend.
