One Dead After Two-Vehicle Accident, Crash Under Investigation

MAPLE TOWNSHIP, Minn. — A fatal crash is under investigation after one person died in a two-vehicle accident Saturday.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office says the report came in at 5:03 p.m. on County Road 1 near the intersection of County Road 24 in Maple Township, rural Pequot Lakes.

Authorities say a Ford pickup and Mazda pickup were involved in the crash and the Mazda was on fire.

The Mazda driver, a 60-year-old man from Remer was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Ford was a 44-year-old man from Pequot Lakes. He was treated on scene for minor injuries.

Authorities say an autopsy is scheduled and an investigation is taking place with the help of the Minnesota State Patrol.
