Minnesota Bigfoot Conference In Grand Rapids This Weekend

GRAND RAPIDS, Minn. — An event surrounding a big hairy mythical creature is taking place this weekend in Grand Rapids.

The 5th annual Minnesota Bigfoot Conference is all about spreading awareness of the education and protection of the creature. It is put on by the Minnesota Bigfoot Research Team who have been working together for 24 years now. The event includes speakers from out of state including a Professor of Anthropology from Idaho State University, as well as a retired navy crypto linguist. It is family-friendly welcoming anyone with anPoster interest.

“It’s something that all of us have passion about. My team members have passion about this, they have a huge interest in this. They want something to happen. We know that there’s people out there that have had things happen. This is the opportunity for them to come and share or people just who are curious, to come and learn,” said Abe Del Rio, CEO of the Minnesota Bigfoot Research Team.

The conference also includes a bigfoot calling contest, raffles and prizes. But mostly it is about talking about your experiences and feeling at ease enough to do so.

“I think a lot of vital evidence and things that we can take away from the creature and the experiences are from what people are actually experiencing themselves. And that’s where you know making sure they’re comfortable, it’s a judgement free zone and that all comes from. So, I think a lot of my involvement with the team and in the subject kind of comes with that is making sure that people feel safe and that it becomes more normalized to talk about,” said Connor Schnell, team member of the Minnesota Bigfoot Research Team.

The Minnesota Bigfoot Conference is taking place at Timberlake Lodge Hotel & Restaurant. It starts at 9 a.m. with general admission costing $30. The party then continues later Saturday at Remer Motel & Campground with music.
