New Thriller Movie Being Filmed In Duluth
DULUTH, Minn. — A new production is being filmed in the Duluth area with a thrilling twist.
Murder on the Great Lakes is about a woman who washes up on the lakes and is taken care of by a hermit. It is a narrative movie with filming taking place mostly in and around a cabin on a lake. The Northland is growing in the industry as far as filming locations.
“We’re really looking to build and grow the crews and the casts here in Minnesota. And ultimately that’s done by doing smaller productions like this. Where people can learn the craft and learn it right, learn it well and understand what it means. Because it’s different than making a commercial, it’s different making a documentary,” said Eric Howell, Director.
The Upper Midwest Film Office plays a crucial role in getting filmmakers together to work on projects in the area. A lot goes in to the making of these productions.
“There is so much diversity in the film set as far as abilities and skills that are needed to pull off a film. This is kind of like a mini community or a mini city that you need to pull these films off,” said Elisheba Perry, Digital Imaging Technician.
“It’s not just lighting there’s you know obviously production there’s camera, there’s our little crafty area with all of our snacks,” said Nicole Pierre, in the grip and electric group. “Art, dressing, costumes, makeup, I mean I could go on and on. There’s like even sub-branches of those.”
The film will air on the Lifetime network. A release date has yet to be announced.
