UMD Men’s Hockey Set to Clash with #6 Minnesota in Early Season Showdown

Last year, UMD dropped one game and tied the other in their meetings with Minnesota.

DULUTH, Minn.- The UMD men’s hockey team returns home this upcoming weekend for quite the litmus test.

As the 6th ranked Minnesota Golden Gophers are in town.

The Bulldogs are coming off a split with UMass-Lowell just a week ago.

There were some highs and lows with the Red Hawks.

Friday was the high point as the Bulldogs put up four goals to clinch their first regular season victory.

Saturday though the team dealt with turnovers.

Head Coach Scott Sandelin said they always want to play the best of the best but that comes with cleaning things up.

“We may play well enough to win this weekend but we might not win. I want to see how we play. It’s more about getting back to how we need to play. We need to be a lot more competitive. We need some guys to play better. We need to clean up our puck management and we need to generate more offense,” said Sandelin.

Puck drop is Friday at 7:07 PM.
