Friday Morning Northland Forecast: 10/18/2024
There's Rain Out West
I’m watching North Dakota. I see rain out there, and I want it to come here….today.
As you may recall, we have been very dry for the last three months. We are about 3.5″ short of where we should be for rainfall for the year. Yesterday, we had a Red Flag Warning across most of Minnesota, for fire danger, because of heat, strong winds and dryness. And that is why I am hoping the rain across the Dakotas makes it’s way to our region, ASAP.
The high pressure area that’s been bringing us clear skies for what seems like forever, is slowly moving to the east today. Out west, a cold front and low pressure system moving east will bring us a 40% chance for showers late today, and early on Saturday. If we get any rain, it won’t be much. Maybe a tenth of an inch. But, with our situation, anything will help. The average high for today is 52 degrees. We will continue to be well above that, with highs of 68, 62, 72 and 70 through Monday. We will finally cool down to where we should be by Wednesday, with a high of 50. After tonight and tomorrow morning, our next chance for rain will be Tuesday, and that’s too far out to count on, at this point.
I keep thinking we’ve seen our last day with highs of 70 degrees for the year, yet they keep coming. At some point, autumn, and eventually winter will finally arrive. That, I forecast with great confidence.
Have a great weekend!
