Wednesday Morning Northland Forecast: 10/23/2024

A Very Average Fall Day

We have gotten so used to above average high temps, that when we finally have a ‘normal’ day, it feels really chilly! For instance, our high temps so far this week have been 70 and 69. Those weren’t record temps, but they were both well above average. Today, our high will be about 49 degrees, which is exactly average for the date. It will also be quite windy, with NW winds blasting down from Canada at 10-25 mph, so there will definitely be a chill in the air. So, while that will feel quite brisk by comparison to the last two days, it will be exactly average/normal for October 23rd.

It will also become mostly sunny today, as high pressure comes in along with those strong NW winds. We only got .03″ of rain in Duluth yesterday, even though it seemed like more, since it was cloudy all afternoon. As another low pressure system visits us from the west tomorrow afternoon, we will have about a 70% chance for more rain. And it looks like the rain tomorrow will be more substantial, possibly from .25″ to .50″. That chance will be mainly from noon to midnight on Thursday. It will be warmer tomorrow too, with highs in the upper 50s and SW winds 10-20mph. Then, from Friday through Monday, it’s back to more sunshine, with high temps in the 50s and lows in the 30s, just a touch above the average temps for the period. It will warm up a little bit Monday and Tuesday, as another warm front sweeps from the south to the north across the area. High temps will get up to the low to mid 60s. That will also bring our next chance for rain, on Tuesday.

So, enjoy today’s very ‘normal’ day. You might just not be used to it!
