Trunk or Treat Season Underway, Including at Eastridge Church
DULUTH, Minn. – Trunk or Treat events have becoming a popular staple during the month of October as part of Halloween celebrations. Eastridge Church hosted their 13th annual event this past weekend.
Hundreds took part in this event, with activities in both in the parking lot of the church and inside the church. There were intricately decorated trunks, a bouncy castle, food vendors, and of course lots of candy.
It’s kind of a localized event,” says church attendee Vanessa Roers, “so you get people from not just your neighborhood, but from all over the city, and it just gives us a way to kind of give back and show how much god loves everybody. My brother does one of the trunks every year, and like that’s his big thing that he does, him and another friend go together, and they just enjoy doing the trunks, everybody that’s out there has had so much fun putting in the effort and the time just to have something cool.”
The event also emphasized community gathering and support. New this year was accepting clothes as donations, allowing attendees to grab what they need to gear up for the coming winter.
“I just think it’s important so that you give everybody an opportunity to get out and have that fun and that experience in like, kind of a safe neighborhood,” says Vanessa, “this is, we’re a church, and it’s great to have people come in from wherever you live, and knowing that your kids are gonna be in a safe place, it’s not dark, it’s not scary, it’s bright, fun, enjoyable.”
