Wednesday Morning Northland Forecast: 10/30/2024
Winter Storm Watch Tomorrow
Being a fan of Halloween, I was hoping the kids would have a good night, weather-wise, for trick-or-treating tomorrow. Well, that’s not going to happen. A Winter Storm Watch for the area will be in effect from 7am to 4pm on Thursday afternoon, for rain turning to snow, accumulating around 2″-4″. Some areas, mainly up the north shore could see as much as 6″ through the day. It’s really more of a nuisance snow than a paralyzing snow storm. And, maybe it will make it more of an adventure for the kids. They might just enjoy getting candy, and throwing snowballs around! Unfortunately, it will also be breezy, with winds out of the north at 15-25 mph. So, it will be necessary to wear a few layers of insulation under the Halloween costumes. But, I think the parents and kids will make it through the afternoon and evening just fine.
After the snowy Halloween, high pressure will move in for Friday, making for a sunny and cool end to the week, with a high temp in the mid 40s. Saturday will be partly sunny and warmer, with a high of 52, and windy conditions. And Sunday and Monday bring more chances for rain (yay!), with high temps around 50. And, one more thing to remember, this Saturday night, it’s time to “fall back,” so set your clocks back 1 hour before bedtime. It’ll be much brighter earlier on Sunday and Monday mornings, but man, it sure will get dark fast!
Enjoy the snow!
