Amber Alert Suspect Linked to Fatal Shooting
A mother and her children are safe, after they were the subjects of an Amber Alert
BRAINERD, Minn. – A suspect in connection to an Amber Alert issued for a Brainerd mother and her kids, is also alleged to have fatally shot a man, according to the Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities allege that that 35-year-old Chad Aanerud abducted his girlfriend and her four children around 2:00 am Friday morning on Loerch Road in Brainerd. In an Amber Alert issued at 6:30 am, the Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office said Aanerud is also alleged to have fatally shot a 62-year-old man at property nearby.
A follow up alert went out around 8:35 am, with the Crow Wing County Sheriff stating Aanerud was pulled over and taken into custody in neighboring Morrison County. The mother and her children were located in the car and were said to be physically unharmed. This is an evolving story.
