Friday Evening Northland Forecast: 11/1/2024
A Half and Half Weekend
As we head into this first weekend of November 2024, we are still -4.10″ on the total precipitation for the year. At this point, it doesn’t matter if we make up that deficit with rain or snow. Either will do just fine. It looks like two systems coming through, on Sunday and Monday, will at least make a dent in that shortfall. Duluth only got 1.6″ of snow on Thursday, and melted down, it was just .20″ of actual moisture. We’re going to need some bigger snowfalls than that!
Our average high and low for today is 45 and 29. We hit 40 and 22 on Friday, a rare below average temperature day. For the next several days, we will be pretty close to seasonal temps, just a little above and a little below. It will certainly be a bit of a shock when the sun sets at about 4:50pm on Sunday. That’s always a bit of an adjustment. By 8:00pm, it seems like the middle of the night. Weird!
For the weekend, look for partly sunny skies on Saturday, with a high of 48. Sunday looks quite wet, with a high also in the upper 40s. Back to work on Monday, the next low pressure system comes to visit, and we get another shot of rain, possibly most of the day, which will seem very dark, especially with sun setting so early. Tuesday through Thursday then look quite bright and sunny, with dry conditions, and high temps from 45 to 50 degrees. Altogether, it’s a pretty easy beginning to November, with the start of winter only about 7 weeks away.
Have an enjoyable weekend!
