Northern Star: Kyle Walljasper

In the Bulldogs most recent game, Walljasper totaled six touchdowns against Winona State.

DULUTH, Minn.- In his 3rd full season as the UMD quarterback, Kyle Walljasper continues to find the end zone.

In the Bulldogs most recent game, Walljasper totaled six against Winona State.

“Our gameplan was really good with our rushing attack. We made a couple adjustments and our o-line, tight ends, fullbacks, running backs all played a really big part in that. They had one of their best games physically blocking wise so that obiviously helped me score,” said Walljasper.

A statline like that jumps out no matter what. But not to those who have a front row seat.

“We’ve been waiting for that this fall. Kyle took that game under his wing. He played a phenomenal game. He was tough. He was aggressive. He wanted it more than Winona did,” said head coach Curt Wiese.

But for the man under center, its all about the W.

“To come away with a win on one of those was huge for us coming into these next two weeks. And hopefully we can keep that winning going,” said Walljasper.

All in hopes of limiting the things that haunted them earlier in the year.

“Overall, we’ve just been a few plays away every game. Confidence wise the team’s in a pretty good spot. I think we’ve been playing decently. It’s just a few different things that could’ve gone our way, maybe a couple of plays we could’ve made but I think overall everyone is still pretty confident,” added Walljasper.

UMD is next in action on Saturday at Concordia-St. Paul.
