State Football: MIB Clinches Spot in Semifinals, Hermantown & Cromwell-Wright See Seasons End

GRAND RAPIDS, Minn.- Three Northland prep football teams began state tournament play on Thursday.

In 9-man action, Mountain Iron-Buhl celebrated their fourth straight state tournament appearance by defeating Stephen-Argyle Central in the quarterfinals, 38 to 6.

MIB was led by Derik Dahl and Micaden Clines, who each had two scores in the victory.

The Rangers will next play on November 14th at 1 PM at U.S. Bank Stadium. Opponent is still to be determined.

In other 9-man football, Cromwell-Wright couldn’t contain Fertile-Beltami as they fell 48 to 7 in the quarterfinals.

The Cardinals finish with an overall record of 10-2.

Lastly in AAAA, Hermantown fought hard in the 2nd half against their quarterfinal opponent Orono.

Unfortunately, they see their season end as they fall 49 to 21 to the Spartans.

Martin Sleen had two rushing touchdowns to lead the Hawks.

Hermantown finishes the season at 9-2.
