The Duluth Police Department Swears in 11 New Officers

DULUTH, Minn. — The Duluth Police Department has welcomed in 11 new recruits to the force.

The officers received their badges in front of friends, family and fellow officers during an official swearing in ceremony.

Two officers were also promoted to Sergeant during the ceremony.  One of the promoted officers say’s 12 years ago, he started his law enforcement career in the same shoes as the new recruits.

“I got to really see what the community wants from its police force,” said Duluth Police Sgt James Forsyth. “Eventually got to the point in my career where I felt it was time to maybe try and bring that to other officers in the department, and put in for Sergeant and was lucky enough to get picked.”

The new officers will now go through field training before being assigned on the streets.
