Names Released of Five Dead From Gunshot Wounds in West Duluth

UPDATE (November 8, 9:55 a.m.) — The Duluth Police Department has released the names of those who died on Thursday from gunshot wounds.

The two people found at the 6000 block of Tacony Street were 47-year-old Duluth resident Erin Abramson and 15-year-old Duluth resident Jacob Nephew.

The people found dead at the 4400 block of West 6th Street were 45-year-old Duluth resident Kathryn Nephew (Ramsland) and 7-year-old Duluth resident Oliver Nephew.

Authorities say the suspect appeared to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. That man has been identified as 46-year-old Duluth resident Anthony Nephew.

The police department is hosting a press conference at noon on Friday at the Public Safety Building in Duluth.

DULUTH, Minn. — Duluth Police are investigating the deaths of five people found in two homes in the West Duluth neighborhoods of Cody and Denfeld Thursday, November 7.

Their initial investigation started at a home on the 6000 block of Tacony Street for a welfare check.  Inside they found a 47-year-old female and a juvenile dead with what appears to be multiple gunshot wounds.

Police say a male suspect was identified, and officers set up a perimeter at his residence in the 4400 block of West 6th Street, near Denfeld High School.

Once officers got inside, they located two more people deal from apparent gunshot wounds, a 45-year-old female and a juvenile. The suspect, a 46-year-old male, was also found dead with a likely self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The police’s investigation determined the individuals were known to each other, and that there is no present threat to the community.

While this is an active and ongoing investigation, Duluth Police are expected to hold a press conference on Friday, November 8, to provide more information.

Names of the five people dead will not be released until next of kin are notified. The department shares their thoughts and prayers to the victims’ families and loved ones involved in this tragic event.
