State Football: Moose Lake/Willow River & Deer River Fall Short in Quarterfinals

Mountain Iron-Buhl is the lone remaining Northland team in the state tournament.

BRAINERD, Minn.- The Moose Lake/Willow River football team made their 4th straight state tournament appearance on Friday night.

Rebels met up with a tough Kimball Cubs squad in the AA quarterfinals, who ended up shutting out Moose Lake 38 to 0.

The Rebels finish the year with a 9-3 record.

In other state football action, Deer River made their return to state after missing out in 2023.

The Warriors played Mahnomen/Waubun tough but fell short 14 to 6.

Deer River goes 9-2 to finish the season.
