Dedication Ceremony Held at Veterans Memorial Park in Rice Lake

RICE LAKE, Minn. — In Rice Lake, Veterans Day was celebrated with a dedication ceremony at the city’s Veterans Memorial.

The ceremony recognized and honored the sacrifices that Veterans have made for their country, it was held at the now completed Rice Lake Memorial Park.

The memorial centers around a statue of an airborne brigade soldier kneeling with a 120 pound pack, depicting the physical and emotional weight that soldiers carry.

“These men and women, past and living have sacrificed their lives in some cases, just so we can have our freedoms,” said Rice Lake Mayor, Suzanne Herstad. “Take your grandkids here, take your kids here. Get a brick with your veterans, your loved veteran on it to memorialize them, so we can remember them, cherish them and never forget, never forget.”

The memorial park is located near the intersection of Rice Lake and Martin Road.

Surrounding the statue are the flags of each military branch, and bricks that can be purchased and customized to display the name of veterans.
