#4 UMD Women’s Hockey Faces Another Top Foe in #3 Minnesota
Recently, the head to head matchup has been in Minnesota's favor as they've won eight out of the last 10 contests.
DULUTH, Minn.- Half of the games that the UMD women’s hockey team has played in this year has been against a top seven team in the country.
That trend continues this weekend when the 4th ranked Bulldogs host the 3rd ranked Minnesota Golden Gophers.
Recently, the head to head matchup has been in Minnesota’s favor as they’ve won eight out of the last 10 contests.
Head Coach Laura Schuler says when looking at the film from last season’s meetings you see a similar output from the Gophers.
“They have a ton of talent, ton of speed, they come at you really, really hard, super aggressive, 2-1-2 forecheck that type of a thing. Again a lot of it for us is going to be what’s the picture? How many are they sending at us because it’s not always the same. That’s the best thing out of hockey, it’s so dynamic, it’s constantly changing from picture to picture, from second to second. So we have to make sure we’re getting our heads up, really communicating with each other and talking well,” said Schuler.
Bulldogs will try to get their first win against the Gophers since March 12th of 2022 this Friday at 6 PM.
