“Santa Paws” Fundraiser Brings Holiday Cheer to Pets and Owners
SUPERIOR, Wis. — With the holiday season ramping up, The Douglas County Humane Society hosted its annual “Santa Paws” fundraiser on Saturday.
The event has been taking place for nearly 30 years, bringing the holiday cheer to pets and their owners.
Each pet got a photo captured in front of a backdrop by a professional photographer, perfect for Christmas cards and family memories. Many pets even dawned festive sweaters and collars.
Over the years the event has seen a wide variety of pets, from dogs, cats and even farm animals.
“There’s something special about bringing your pets, who are so important and you spend everyday with, just like you would the rest of your family, your children, your spouse, your friends and family. Your pets just are part of all of that and they should be recognized,” said Cheri Fitch, Fundraising & Events Coordinator at the Douglas County Humane Society.
People could donate any amount of money to the Humane Society for the fundraiser, with the funds going towards supporting the animals at the shelter.
