Wildcat Sanctuary Expands Both Acres and Residents
SANDSTONE, Minn.– Lately, there’s a lot to be excited about at the Wildcat Sanctuary in Sandstone.
The Wildcat Sanctuary recently expanded from 80 acres to 200 acres, when they were able to buy 120 acres of additional land.
The Wildcat Sanctuary does not have any plans for the new space.
They are using the additional land as a buffer for the native wildlife that lives there.
Despite not doing anything with that space, it still has a lot of benefits.
“And so, adding land like this, an additional 120 acres that is promised to the cats to keep it quiet, keep the people away from them, that’s huge. That’s part of that promise, it encompasses what our mission has always been,” explained Wildcat Sanctuary Communications Associate Olivia Kemp.
The land expansion isn’t the only new thing happening at the Wildcat Sanctuary, the number of residents is also expanding as well.
“Today we just announced two new ocelot residents, and two new Asian leopard cat residents that will be calling the wildcat sanctuary their forever home. So, I’d say that in addition to the land, in addition to catio town, of course, new rescues here at the sanctuary that will get to live the rest of their life here,” said Kemp.
From November 19th to Thursday November 21st the Wildcat Sanctuary is participating in Give to the Max Day where donations will be tripled.
