Coming Off Sweep of Miami, UMD Men’s Hockey Returns Home to Face #9 Western Michigan
Western Michigan has won four of their last six against UMD.
DULUTH, Minn.- The UMD men’s hockey team will be at home this upcoming weekend as they welcome in NCHC foe Western Michigan.
It was a series to celebrate for the Dogs last week with UMD picking up their 2nd sweep of the season against Miami of Ohio.
The Bulldogs outscored the Redhawks 12 to 2 in order to accomplish that feat.
Now, it’s on to a Broncos squad, whose taken four out the last six meetings against UMD.
Head Coach Scott Sandelin said it’s just like any other week, his squad is facing another tough NCHC opponent.
“Their team hasn’t changed, the names have changed though, that’s it. Talented players, added some transfers again and some good european players that are new. Freshman that are talented so no different, welcome to our league,” said Sandelin.
“It’ll be a tough weekend, they’re a good team, they’re ranked. I know they play fast, get the puck up the ice but I think we’ve been improving the D-zone and just all over the ice. I think it will be a good test for us here at home this weekend,” added forward Jack Smith.
The Bulldogs will receive another boost to their lineup as freshman forward Max Plante is expected to return to action.
Game one is Friday at 7:07 PM.
