Harbor Pointe Credit Union Begins 2nd Annual Tree of Giving

DULUTH, Minn. — It’s the season of giving and for the second year, Harbor Pointe Credit Union is teaming up with Harbor House Crisis Shelter.

The Harbor Pointe Credit Union on West 2nd Street began their tree of giving Tuesday morning.

After a successful run last year, the two companies are trying to help as many people as possible to experience a holiday that they deserve.

The Christmas tree is at the front desk, filled with ornaments written with gift ideas.

Harbor House staff will take care of wrapping the gifts.

Some of the gift recipients have experienced long term homelessness and avoiding holiday stress for them is the goal.

“It’s very important we remember those in the shelter this holiday season. A lot of the kids that we’re supporting may have been homeless for months. And a lot came in with just a teddy bear, maybe not even that. But when people buy gifts for the children, it brings a smile to their face. And sometimes you haven’t seen a smile from them in a while,” said Krystal Brandstatter, Executive Director for Harbor House Crisis Shelters.

The Harbor Pointe Credit Union will be accepting the gift donations until December 19th.

The Harbor House Crisis Shelters is always looking for cleaning and hygiene product donations as well.
