Keeping Tabs on Tire Safety for Winter

DULUTH, Minn.– It’s beginning to feel a lot like winter, and it’s never too early to prepare your car for the ice and snow.

With the unpredictable Midwest winters, checking out your car’s tires and making sure they’re safe is crucial for a smooth winter.

Discount Tire in Duluth is hard at work to help change tires seeing 24 cars in just their first hour of business Wednesday morning.

There are a few things drivers should keep tabs on such as the pressure and tread before the snow piles up.

“Definitely look for odd wear on the tires. If there’s cracking on the tire, age is a big factor. Any tire over six years old, we recommend getting replaced. You can always look at the serial number on the tire, the DOT number on the tire to check that out. Or you can come to one of our stores and we can check it out for you,” said Nick Marroquin, Duluth Discount Tire Store Manager.

Discount Tire is offering free walk-in tire checks at all locations to make sure the pressure, tread and age is ready for the winter roads.
