Pink Friday Celebrates Women Owned Small Businesses

SUPERIOR, Wis. — Women owned small businesses are being celebrated over in Superior.

It is all part of Pink Friday. This nationwide event takes place annually the Friday before Black Friday encouraging shoppers to shop local ahead of the holidays. This is the 2nd year the Superior Business Improvement District is celebrating this day with many deals and discounts. There are 17 businesses participating including are Artistic Florals by Leslie, Weeping Willow, Mix Cosmetiques and 2540 Coffee House.

“Moving from one store to another and it feels like a community. Like a hometown feel that it gives and that’s the community that they give to one another too, the businesses like to support one another. Making sure they’re offering different things than their neighbor so, there’s not a huge duplication of products,” said Kelly Peterson, Superior Business Improvement District.

For Kindred Stone & Co. a boutique store, they are offering, 20% off all clothing, a free bracelet with your purchase, and a drawing to win a gift certificate.

“I just think just coming out and supporting small. There are so many great businesses in Superior that are doing it. I know there’s a few in Duluth as well. But just coming out and shopping, especially on Tower Avenue here you can park, you can walk to a lot of the other businesses. And everybody’s kind of doing something a little different. So, it’s just fun,” said Jami Holappa, co-owner and manager, Kindred Stone & Co.

This is the kickoff to the holiday season. Small Business Saturday starts next week and that will continue with deals at different businesses all over Superior until December 7th. Check out the Superior Business Improvement District’s website for more.
