UMD Men’s Hockey to Meet Arizona State for First NCHC Matchup Between the Two Schools

UMD is currently four points behind Arizona State in the conference standings.

DULUTH, Minn.- The UMD men’s hockey team will ditch the snow this weekend for some sun.

UMD will travel to play the newest members of the NCHC, Arizona State.

The Bulldogs have only seen the Sun Devils twice before, earning a sweep at home back in October of 2022.

UMD is currently four points behind Arizona State in the conference standings.

Head Coach Scott Sandelin says his team will have to be ready to go as the Sun Devils have picked up some momentum heading into this weekend’s series.

“Good team, saw what they did to Denver. Right? Beat the number one team in the country twice in their own building. They were off last weekend so neither one of us really has that advantage of playing on Thanksgiving weekend. I’m sure there’s a big boost to them. Have a good team, they’ll be ready to go,” said Sandelin.

UMD will have one last game in 2024 as they’ll visit Bemidji State on New Year’s Eve.

Game one between the Bulldogs and Sun Devils is at 8 PM on Friday.
