A1 Movers Collecting Donations for “Fill the Truck” Food Drive
DULUTH, Minn. — This holiday season A1 Movers is collecting food donations for its 13th annual “Fill the Truck” Food Drive.
At Super One locations across the Twin Ports, shoppers can purchase pre-made donation bags filled with food for $5 to $10.
A1 Movers will then store and give all the food to Salvation Army and Second Harvest Food Bank. The food donations, going to support those in need.
The food drive has grown over the years, since its start back in 2011.
“We started the food drive in Superior, and then we kind of grew to Duluth with the help of Miner’s Super One Foods. We are in about 10 of their stores, our bins are working around the clock for us,” said Chris Nye, A1 Movers President.
Throughout its history, the food drive has donated over 350,000 lbs. of food to the community.
“It started small and it has built over the years, and when you look at the scale tickets and the amount of weight that has come in, you think about what a grocery cart costs yourself. When you go to the store it’s easy to spend $100-$200,” said Nye. “It goes a long way and for good will, it’s not just a December and January type of thing, the need is year round.”
The last day to donate food and “fill up the truck” is on December 30th.
