Friday Evening Northland Forecast: 12/13/2024
A Messy Weekend
The bitter cold arctic blast we had a couple days ago is gone. So are the fierce northwest winds that felt like icy knives. Wednesday and Thursday were pretty rough this week. Now we transition into a different situation….a Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 4pm Saturday to 3pm Sunday. Not so much for snow, but for freezing precipitation that could make driving very tricky. The advisory covers the whole North Shore, and also heading south down interstate 35, and highway 53 into western Wisconsin. Again, not for the possible snow, but for the possibility of a tenth of an inch of ice under some heavy, wet snow.
Saturday will be a cloudy day, with a 60% chance of afternoon snow, that may turn to freezing precipitation as we head into Saturday evening. We will have a high about 28 degrees with southeast winds 10-15. Sunday will be mainly cloudy and dry, with a high of 35, which will feel great! And on Monday, we will have another chance of a rain/snow mix, with a high of 33. It will also be quite windy on Monday, with south winds 10-20 mph. The rest of the week will be seasonal, with high temps a few degrees either side of 20 degrees.
So, have a great weekend, and just remember, there could be a little bit of ice on those roads. You might want to take it down just a few miles an hour.
