Lake Superior College Awarded $200,000 Grant for Accessibility

DULUTH, Minn.– Lake Superior College has been awarded a $200,000 grant, to help provide continued accessibility for all students.

The funds from the 2024 Inclusive Higher Education Grant will be going towards implementing an inclusive higher education program.

The program itself is called ‘PACE’.

Right now, the money is being used to help map this program out to see how it could best fit students with special needs.

It gives them a chance to assess their curriculum and see what courses and opportunities would serve them best.

“We’re starting small, to make sure that we build the right program and that students are successful. So, in the first year of enrollment, we’ll probably look at two to five students tops. So that we can help them be successful. As we grow the hope would be that we could maybe be as large as Bethel, and enroll 20-25 students a year in the program,” said Linda Kingston, Vice President, Academic Student Affairs at LSC.

The PACE program, and other opportunities for these students will be put in place in the year 2027.

In the future they have an option to increase the grant for years to come.
