Giving Tree at St. Luke’s Clinic Provides Warm Clothes
DULUTH, Minn. — One Aspirus St. Luke’s clinic has setup a giving tree full of warm clothing items, giving back to the community.
The tree is decorated in scarves, mittens, hats and other items. Patients at the Superior St clinic can take anything they need to stay warm during the colder months.
Many items on the tree were donated by the Minnesota Knitters’ Guild or handmade by St. Luke’s employees.
It’s the first year that the clinic has had the giving tree, and it has been a success so far.
“This tree is a wonderful resource to our community, to our patients,” said Meagan Avery, St. Luke’s Foundation Development Associate. “Being right in the heart of downtown, and providing a little extra layer of warmth. People are experiencing a really tough time, and when we can give them a little lift, we are so happy to do so.”
The tree also has handcrafted stuffed animals for younger patients to take home.
“We’ve had people take items, they’ve been happy to have those options. Kids have been excited about the little animals on there too, which also helps them just kind of move through their visit that’s maybe stressful sometimes,” said Jennifer Eisenhauer, Clinic Lead.
The giving tree will be set up in the lobby of the clinic until March, providing clothing items throughout winter.
