AMSOIL Arenas New Scoreboard is in Action

DULUTH, Minn. – AMSOIL Arenas new state of the art scoreboard is officially in action.

The previous scoreboard was 10 years old and had technical issues, so it was time for an upgrade.

The new $800,000 scoreboard has the best resolution of any scoreboard in the state and all of College Hockey.

The scoreboard went through its first full weekend at the DECC, and got many good reviews.

Although the same size, it enhances visitor experience. The behind the scenes production equipment also got an upgrade.

“We had to do a full production room change, so the best part about changing the resolution is now we can do a lot more fun things,” said Dan Hartman, the Executive Director at the DECC. “So we can have remote video, we can have a lot more fan engagement that we really couldn’t do with the old production equipment. I know the fans will never see this (production) stuff, but I tell you, you’ll see the results of it on the scoreboard.”

The new scoreboard also comes with a new major sponsor as Minnesota Power Employees Credit Union got a prime advertising spot.

The DECC plans to continue making upgrades to the arena and even hopes to get a 360 video board around the seating area.
