West Duluth CVS To Close Jan. 28

DULUTH, Minn. — CVS and its pharmacy in West Duluth is closing down Jan. 28, FOX 21 has learned.

The pharmacy, located on Grand Avenue, follows the closure of hundreds of CVS stores across the country over the past few years.

All current prescriptions will be transferred to the CVS Pharmacy at Tower Avenue in Superior.

Prescriptions can also be filled at any other CVS or another pharmacy.

CVS said there are a number of factors that go into making store closure decisions. Including market dynamics, population shifts and store density.

Below is the company’s full statement provided to FOX 21:

“We’ve made the difficult decision to close the CVS Pharmacy at 4528 Grand Avenue in Duluth on January 28. All prescriptions will be transferred to the nearby CVS Pharmacy at 2631 Tower Avenue in Superior, Wisconsin to ensure patients have uninterrupted access to pharmacy care. Patients can always choose to fill their prescriptions at any CVS Pharmacy, or the pharmacy of their choice, if another is more convenient. All colleagues are being offered comparable roles within the company.

Maintaining access to pharmacy services in the communities we serve is an important factor we consider when making store closure decisions. Other factors include local market dynamics, population shifts, a community’s store density, and ensuring there are other geographic access points to meet the needs of the community.

We’ll continue to provide the community with outstanding service at our Superior, WI store, as well as the two CVS Pharmacy locations remaining in Duluth. We also offer several delivery options for customers and patients with eligible prescriptions, including 1-2-day delivery and on-demand (same-day) delivery (within three hours), through CVS.com and the CVS Pharmacy app to provide additional convenient access to household essentials, health and wellness products, and prescription medications.”
