$11.2 Million in Federal Dollars for Lift Bridges Rehab
DULUTH, Minn. — $11.2 million in federal funding is on its way to Duluth to help rehabilitate the historic Aerial Lift Bridge.
The grant is provided by the u-s department of transportation.
The rehab work will include surface preparation and repainting, lead abatement, replacement of deteriorated sections, miscellaneous structural steel repairs, repairs to concrete, and replacement of the bridge sidewalks.
The $11.2 million comes after an additional $1.5 million was secured the last few years for the project.
The bridge is a vital link for vehicles and pedestrians to and from Park Point. But it is, of course, that critical link between the world of cargo and the Duluth-Superior port.
U.S. Senators Amy Klobuchar and Tina Smith along with Congressman Pete Stauber all sending our press releases praising their efforts to secure the funding.
