Chum Gets Gloves, Still Needs Other Winter Gear

DULUTH, Minn. — Last week, Chum put out a call for gloves. Over the weekend, the community stepped up.

A couple hundred pairs were donated so far

While they are better on gloves, they still could use more donations.

Some items are hand warmers, foot warmers, boots, socks, winter gear.

The shelter is also low on towels for people to shower with.

Both the main shelter and warming center have been at capacity each night.

Many are still out in the cold.

“The hard part is to get it doled out evenly and make sure people are getting what they need. Like, of course the outdoor gear we try to give to the outdoor people first. Sleeping bags, warmer boots, anything.” Said Deb Holman, Street Outreach Coordinator for Chum, “The people that are out 24/7 need that kind of stuff and we need to be checking on them and make sure they are okay.” 59:55

“I think we have a great community. That, when they know what is needed, people step up and help. I and chum, on behalf of chum, am very grateful for that.”

If you have items to donate, you can drop them off directly at Chum.

Otherwise, you can always donate online at ChumDuluth.org
