Terese Tomanek Elected Unanimously as Duluth City Council President

DULUTH, Minn. — Duluth City Councilor Terese Tomanek was unanimously selected as the new Duluth City Council president by her fellow councilors Monday, January 13. Councilor Tomanek takes over the role from Councilor Roz Randorf.

Tomanek has been serving on the council for five years. She said she’s looking forward to continue to serve the people of Duluth and continue to help bring in more housing and economic development to the city.

Tomanek expects her new role to not affect her focus as a councilor.

“I think my new status is just to continue working as a counselor,” said Tomanek. “I don’t think it’s going to be that much different. I’ve always been doing a lot of meetings, been very involved in the community. It’s just an opportunity for me to be even more involved. Like I said, help move this city forward.”

Councilor Lynn Marie Nephew was also selected unanimously by the council to be the new Duluth City Council Vice President.

Nephew and Tomanek are serving one-year terms in those seats.
