DECC wrapping up plans on “Portside Park”

DULUTH, Minn. — The DECC in Duluth has begun wrapping up a project they’re calling “Portside Park.” The site will act as a venue that will hold 4-thousand guests. Stemming from the success following popular events such as the Winter Village, they’re excited to incorporate this while rebuilding the sea-wall. The DECC is looking forward to holding concerts and other events there, with the iconic lift bridge acting as a backdrop.

“One of the struggles we have is we want to be able to have the smaller bands in that four thousand range,” said Dan Hartman, executive director of the DECC, “and four thousand people in bayfront just feels too small. And so it’s great to create a venue that has that smaller crowd.”

The DECC is hoping to complete construction of the Portside Park alongside the sea-wall by this summer.
