190 Degrees Coffee Shop Braves the Cold

DULUTH, Minn.– Because of the dangerous cold we’re experiencing, many businesses decided to close up shop today.

Despite the name, 190 Degrees Coffee shop in Lincoln Park is braving temps deep in the negatives.

They decided to keep their doors open to provide locals with warm shelter to escape the cold.

Being able to provide that level of comfort for the Northland is something the coffee shop takes pride in.

“Like any other coffee shop, especially any other local coffee shop, we provide a safe space for people to come. It’s especially important when it’s negative 40 with windchill. And there’s a few people that, you know they need a place to go. If we shut down, we kind of rob them of that opportunity to get warm,” said Jake Conger, General Manager at 190 Coffee.

The general manager also tells us that despite the freezing cold, there’s still a handful of customers that are dedicated to ordering iced drinks.
