Animal Allies Water Break Update
DULUTH, Minn.– After what was initially thought to be just a burst pipe situation at Animal Allies, turned out to be so much worse.
The shelter posted on their Facebook page last Friday, showing the damage resulting from the flood.
The animals living there are all safe.
Staff told FOX 21 that the leakage is from their sprinkler system as a whole. And it’s been affecting multiple areas of the shelter.
The water break made an almost total loss of their administration office, humane education room, as well as their public bathroom.
That being said, staff is remaining hopeful, because community support is not leaving them disappointed.
“It was very shocking. We were really grateful that we were on site when it happened that it wasn’t over our animal spaces. It obviously could have been a lot worse. It’s making just the day to day a little more challenging. And we’re also, you know, losing out on enrichment space,” explained Nicole Facciotto, operations manager at Animal Allies. “It’s really nice to have those extra areas to take the more nervous dogs out to kind of get some socialization, let the cat stretch their legs. So, we’re taking a hit in that way too.”
Animal Allies told FOX 21 that the best way to support them during this issue is to adopt. Many of their indoor enrichment areas have been affected by the water.
They also said all donations right now will go towards the animals.
Some good news in this situation, Krenzen Auto in Duluth has reached out to Animal Allies, offered to cover their $10,000 insurance deductible.
