Friday Evening Northland Forecast: 1/24/2025

A Warmer Weekend

A week ago tonight, I was telling you about an Extreme Cold Warning that was imminent. From Saturday thru Tuesday, we fought off the coldest air of the winter. Overnight low temps got down to -20, and the accompanying windchills dove down to -50. It was a brutal 4-day stretch. And, that’s why I live here. It’s a challenge I enjoy. An old saying goes, “There’s no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothes!” And really, that’s kind of true. If you are dressed with enough layers, and some really good choppers, and a warm hat, you’ll do okay. I think it makes us hearty. Do you agree?

This weekend brings a much different, and less challenging weather forecast. A low pressure system and warm front is going over us today and tonight. It will bring an inch or two of snow, and warmer temps. Our temps will actually rise overnight tonight, and top out at about 24 degrees before noon on Saturday. Then, we will see temps decrease Saturday afternoon, as westerly winds pick up to around 30mph. So, it will be warmer, but it will also be quite breezy. There’s always something, isn’t there? Saturday night we’ll drop down to 2 degrees (above zero!), and we’ll rise up to the low to mid 20’s on again, a windy Sunday.

I’m excited for Monday, as we will shoot for a high temp of 32 degrees, under mostly cloudy skies. We will spend the rest of next week with highs mainly in the 20’s, and we’ll try to tap 30 degrees once more by Friday. I’ve been watching a 10-day forecast that shows we might get a decent snowstorm around Feb 1-2. I don’t put a ton of stock in those long range forecasts, but it’s something I’ll keep my eyes on. I am still waiting for a BIG snowstorm. Maybe you are, too. Have a great, warmer weekend!
