Frozen Fun at the Annual Lake Superior Ice Festival
SUPERIOR, Wis. — Despite the wind and snow Saturday morning, people showed out for the annual Lake Superior Ice Festival.
The festival was filled with outdoor activities, from games, ice skating and ices races.
Even some food trucks braved the weather to serve up some treats, but one of the stars of the show was the ice sculptures.
People watched on as the blocks of ice were turned into detailed carvings. One of those carvings was a ice throne made from 15 blocks of ice.
“This is my first year at the Superior Ice Festival, this is also the biggest job I’ve ever done. I’ve only been doing this about two and a half, three years, but it takes up all of my time to be able to do any of this stuff,” said Niko Pink, Lead Sculptor at Shamrock Group.
The Ice Festival is an annual event in Superior, and is a way for the entire community to get outside and enjoy winter.
