City of Superior Honing in on Infrastructure Improvements for 2025

SUPERIOR, Wis.– The year 2024 had a huge focus on incorporating nature back into the City of Superior.

They revitalized Woodstock Bay and planted trees in the neighborhoods.

“2024 was a very successful year in the city of Superior. We made a number of significant investments in our infrastructure; we developed many new housing units. And we’ve been increasing quality of life, and trying to take steps to increase affordability,” said Superior Mayor Jim Paine.

As for 2025, Paine is hoping to continue the trend of improving the area.

“The biggest and most exciting thing we’re going to do, the most important thing we’re going to do, we’re going to start replacing lead lines. We’ve been waiting for 50 years for our private water utility to replace those lead lines. They refuse to do it without public money, so we’re going to do it,” said Mayor Paine.

This project is something that will help impact everyone across the city.

“And so, every street project we do, Hammond Avenue, Tower Avenue, if you own a lead line, on your private property on those projects, we’re going to replace it for free,” said Mayor Paine.
“We’re also going to develop a fund, to give everyone that has lead pipes on their private property at little or no cost.”

The change of infrastructure doesn’t stop at the lead pipe replacements.

“We’re going to turn on our broadband network. For the first time, we have built the first neighborhood for our connect Superior Fiber Broadband. And those folks are going to get connected in this spring. To be more affordable, faster and more efficient network. We will be the only fiber network in the Twin Ports,” explained Mayor Paine.

With these modifications coming to fruition, Mayor Jim Paine is looking forward to helping Superior become more affordable, safe, and clean.
