‘Bay Produce’ Introduces Flowers to Harvest Lineup

SUPERIOR, Wis. — Bay Produce is a familiar name seen in grocery stores across the region like Super One.

They’ve built a legacy for the veggies they grow every year.

But now, the employees behind the scenes are growing with new opportunities. For this harvest, they are introducing hanger baskets and potted flowers.

“When somebody comes to buy a couple of hanging plants, they’re going to be able to receive assistance from somebody we serve. They’re going to help them with the cash register, they’re going to pick out you know, which pot is best for their porch. That kind of thing. And we’re really excited about that opportunity to expand what we do,” explained Mark Kroll, Director of Challenge Center.

And for one of the employees here, she’s made her mark with dedicating significant time with this company.

But for Erin Smet, it’s the little things that matter most.

“Being around friends, having people show you what to do and tell you what to do next. I started here in 1999 when my dad was still teaching. And he would bring me to work and bring me home. And when he retired, I would drive back and forth until I lived in town,” said Erin Smet, a dedicated Bay Produce employee.

Bay Produce is hoping to have their doors open and their flowers ready right on time for Mothers Day.
