St. Scholastica Baseball Relying on Continuity Heading Into New Season
The Saints will look to follow up their solid season last year in which they went 20 and 18 in their first year under head coach Brooks Repking.
DULUTH, Minn.- It is officially game week for the St. Scholastica baseball team.
No, they won’t be playing in Duluth. But they will be playing in the state of Minnesota.
CSS is set to play Simpson College on the campus of Gustavus Adolphus this upcoming weekend.
The Saints will look to follow up their solid season last year in which they went 20 and 18 in their first year under head coach Brooks Repking.
The Saints’ bench boss said it’s been a hectic week with the changes but added they’re ready to play ball.
“It’s kind of crazy that we’re all of a sudden playing in Minnesota when we were scheduled to play in Kansas originally and the weather looks better in Minnesota. Yeah, we’re excited being that it’s year two we kind of feel we have our feet underneath us. We know all the guys on the team when we probably didn’t know all the guys last year as well as we should of. We’re just excited. We have an older team. We’ve got 18 seniors and we just can’t wait for the season to get going,” said Repking.
One of those upperclassmen returning is All-MIAC conference utilityman Jake Schelonka.
“We’re working as one unit right now, which is great and a good direction for the program. Everyone has each other’s back. I was just talking with some guys about trust and transfer of trust with each other on and off the field. I think we’re just coming in as one big unit. We know the goal that we want to hit and like I said earlier, I think we could surprise some teams this year,” added Schelonka.
Scholastica’s first game against Simpson is Sunday at 12:30.
