Rock Ridge will find out their state opponent on Saturday, March 8th.
DULUTH, Minn.- The prep girls basketball section 7AAA title game took place a Duluth Denfeld High School on Thursday.
Rock Ridge faced off against Hermantown with a trip to the state tournament on the line.
The Wolverines started the game out fast and never looked back as they defeated the Hawks 73 to 54 to advance to the state tournament for the second consecutive season.
Anna Westby and Maija Lamppa led the team in scoring both finishing with 18 points.
“Our defense pretty much promotes our offense, and I thought that we did a good job of that start of the game. Our kids try to stress that, the first time we played them that means nothing, this is a one and done and I thought the kids did a nice job throughout the whole game just playing the next possession,” said head coach Byron Negen.
For the Wolverines their goal all season was the make it back to the state tournament.
“I just do whatever I can to help my teammates. We all have the goal of making it to state. I am just very excited,” said Anna Westby. “I feel like we have even more chemistry than we did last year, and we have been spending summers and all of winter obviously together. We have a good group here.”
