Duluth Woman Charged with Drug Trafficking and Illegal Possession of a Firearm

DULUTH, Minn. — A Duluth woman has been charged with drug trafficking and illegal possession of a firearm.

According to a press release from the Department of Justice, 30-year-old Khadijah Denise Preston was found with a Smith & Wesson model M&P Shield M2.0 handgun on December 8, 2023. Just over a year later, on December 9, 2024, she was found in possession of fentanyl with intent to distribute.

Preston had a prior felony conviction of second degree assault in Hennepin County, and due to that was prohibited from possessing any firearms under federal law.

She was charged with one count of illegal possession of a firearm and two counts of possession with intent to distribute fentanyl. She made her initial appearance in court yesterday, March 6.

This case is the result of an investigation conducted by the Duluth Police Department, the Lake Superior Violent Offender Task Force, the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Department, and Homeland Security Investigations.
