LP Building Solutions Celebrates 40 Years in Two Harbors

TWO HARBORS, Minn. — One of LP Building Solutions’ longest-running mills just celebrated their 40-year anniversary.

The LP Mill in Two Harbors has been the company’s birthplace for their SmartSide Trim & Siding product line. Since the product line’s start, seven other siding and trim mills have been established across the U.S.

The mill also allows the public to tour the facility. Last year they had over 1,700 people tour.

“During the Louisiana Pacific years, everybody thought we were railroad,” said Steve Twining, the plant manager for LP Mill. “It was just comical. Nobody, nobody thought  we were a building products company. And now that it’s LP building solutions, that kind of gone away a little bit.”

The Two Harbors location current employees 150 people, which the average tenure there has been 19 years.
