West Duluth Dairy Queen Opens for the Season
DULUTH, Minn. — It’s starting to feel a little more like spring and that means a long-time West Duluth establishment is opening their windows.
On Wednesday the West Duluth Dairy Queen reopened for the 2025 season as people braved the snow to grab a sweet treat.
The classic cones and blizzards return, but there’s also some new items on the menu this spring, including an Orange Cream Shake and a Crunchin’ Cookie Dipped Cone.
The Grand Ave location is the only seasonal DQ in Duluth, and has customers counting down the days until it’s open each year.
“I’m one of those last throwbacks where it is seasonal and the people in the neighborhood really have a lot of fun with that, they’re sad in the fall, oh you should be open, no I shouldn’t. And when I open up in March, it’s like I can’t believe you’re already here. It’s that closure at the end of the season and the start of a new summer on the way when we open up again.”
Coming up on March 20th, Dairy Queen will be hosting free cone day, where customers can get one small ice cream cone for free.
