Meth and Firearm Found after Vehicle Chase in Cass Co
Authorities say approximately 80 grams of methamphetamine and a 9mm pistol were found
CASS LAKE, Minn. – A cordial traffic stop turned vehicle pursuit resulted in the discovery of 80 grams of meth and firearm, according to Leech Lake Tribal Police.
What started as a cordial traffic stop last Thursday quickly turned into a vehicle pursuit, the discovery of 80 grams of meth and a firearm.
On Thursday, a Leech Lake Tribal Police Officer conducted a traffic stop on 31-year-old Kyle Evan White in Cass Lake. According to a police report, the officer recognized White and stated he was aware of a felony warrant for his arrest.
The report said White greeted the officer warmly, but when he was informed of the warrant, he quickly sped off.
Cass County and Hubbard County Sheriffs assisted Leech Lake in the chase. Stop sticks were deployed, but White continued driving, the report said. A Hubbard County Deputy attempted a PIT maneuver on White’s vehicle, though it was unsuccessful.
When White reached Bemidji, the report said deputies made a successful PIT which caused his vehicle to spin out and stop on the sidewalk. White was taken into custody without further incident.
Deputies reported finding a digital scale and three separate baggies of a crystalline substance on White’s person, which tested positive for methamphetamine and weighed around 80 grams. In the vehicle, a 9mm pistol without a serial number and ammunition were found.
The officer’s report said a backpack in the vehicle contained “two medallions which I (the officer) recognized from my experiences to represent the Native Mob gang.” According to the report, “One medallion consisted of a red in color “MOB” symbol and the other, wolf with the color red on it.”
Court documents for this case show White is charged with felon in possession of a firearm, fleeing police, first degree possession and first degree sale of drugs. If convicted on all charges, he could face more than 80 years in prison.
